I got a new TV recently. I'm buying it used from a friend. It's a step up from my old TV in that it's 27 inches rather than 13, and it takes s-video in addition to composite. I got an s-video cable for my PC-FX today so I could try it out, but I forgot that I will need an s-cable from my switch box to my TV also. I'll have to pick up an additional one soon. For now I can plug it directly into the TV. It is rather nice looking if I do say so myself. I have to go through all my systems and find which ones work with S and try to wrangle up cables for them. I know my Marty will, and I suspect that the Saturn and Dreamcast should work out. The 3DO is quite possibly another system with and S connector. I'll have to do a little research and see if I need any special cables like for the Playstation. I'm going to do some re-arranging of my games cabinet anyway. I have too many systems crammed into it and I don't play them all very often. I'm afraid some I may have to pack away, or at least get them out of my case for now.

I've been watching Tenchi Universe evenings recently. It's pretty funny. It reminded me how good Tenchi really is. I saw someone trying to call Urusei Yatsura a harem comedy, but I think that's a bit of a stretch. For me Tenchi is the ultimate harem comedy, and it is very funny. I'd like to check out the new Ryo-Ohki OAVs that are coming out. I'd also really like to watch the Galaxy Police series because what I saw of it was funny as hell. It was great situational comedy.

I am up a little later than I should be, but I have another day off after tomorrow so I'm hoping a little lost sleep won't bother me too much. Exciting news, a demo of the PC-FX emulator is available at Magicengine.com. It currently only runs the game Minimum Nanonic but a full release should be coming pretty soon. I worked a little bit on my neglected Ranma 1/2 Chougiranbuhen shrine. I finished the last character description for Hinako-sensei. It's not available on the site yet but I started making rips of the stages in the game. I have to fudge a little because of the scrolling that happens when you move, the background planes are not all the same width. I have two stages ripped right now though, and I will try to get all of them at some point and post them.

Seems like there is a lot going on. I am feeling better, though my back is still sore and easily fatigued now and then. It has improved my mood a bit and I got to enjoy my day off today. I am reading Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. I'm entering the last 1/3 or the book and it has been very enjoyable. There has been a lot of humor injected here and there, and a lot more is talked about of Voldemorts past. I should finish it within a day. I also went over to a friends house and played some Atelier Iris today which is very enjoyable. I've translated a lot on 3x3 Eyes, though there is still a lot to be done. I picked back up on the manual for the Maison Ikkoku game for PCE. I don't know when I will finish it, but I've done some work on it recently.

I'm having back trouble. I didn't throw it out like I did last time, so I thought it might get better on it's own, but it started to hurt and has just gotten worse over the past couple days. I am still mobile though so it's not as bad as it could be. I'm hoping that a small adjustment to my pelvis/spine should be enough. I have a doctors appt. tomorrow morning so we will see. Last year when I had trouble I was about 20-25 lbs heavier, and I sat down all the time. Now I stand up all the time, but I guess that isn't any better. :P I suppose you are never too young for this kind of thing.

I decided to do a follow-up post for today. I have been playing Atelier Iris on-and-off since I don't have a PS2 in my apartment. It is a lot of fun, I got to play it for about 4-5 hours today. I did a little bit of translating for 3x3 Eyes, consistent effort is needed for a project like that. It can't be finished in one night, nor even several nights in a row. Hopefully it will be done in a couple of months. I've been doing some other translating and going back to projects I was working on in the past. There are some manga series I would like to translate that I was intending to OCR into text files. It's a tremendous amount of work, but I think it is worth it for the convenience of having it on the computer and for the sake of being able to translate it. I may start working on that long and tedious project again soon.

I was really stressed out this morning but I had lunch, drank a beer, and smoked a cigarillo and I'm feeling much better now. :) All kinds of shit has been going on but I haven't felt like blogging much. I saw War of the Worlds which I liked pretty well. Lot's of people die. I wouldn't mind seeing it again this weekend in fact, since my friends have not seen it yet, but I don't know if I will or not. I've been listening to Ministry's newest album Houses of the Mole. It's quite good, although I liked their album just previous to it a little better. I'm thinking a little about life again and what my goals are. I'm glad to be where I am right now, but my situation is still the bare minimum of subsiting in most regards. I'm considering going back to school for Japanese. I don't know if any school will give me enough financial aid, esp. after having filed bankruptcy. I guess we'll have to see. I figure I have a year or so to check out various institiutions and consider my decision, so there is no rush. I still want to finish my book and keep translating. It's hard for me to tell if my weight loss is progressing at all or not. I'm not grossly obese or anything but I let myself gain quite a bit too much weight. I dropped about 20 pounds working my new job, but since I've been working out for a while, I've only managed to gain more muscle it seems. I do look a bit better though and I figure anything that I can do to be more healthy is good. I have diabetes and heat desease in the family so I know that it will be important for me in the long run.

I posted a small update on my translation projects page about 3x3 Eyes: Seima Kourinden, so check it out. Played some Atelier Iris the other day, it is really good so far. I don't know how much I like the mana item synthesis system yet, but the shop items and RPG elements are cool. I listened to the Urusei Yatsura: Lum's Best album today. It's something I got off a tape that I friend of mine had years ago. It's really cool to listen to. It has all the opening and closing themes from UY plus some drama sketches in-between. It's one of those things I crack out once a year or so. It's a good measure of my Japanese skill, if I pick up on some part of the drama portions that I didn't understand before I know I have improved a little. :)
